Mississippi Braves News Release
BILOXI, MS - Michael Harris II extended his hitting streak to nine games, but the M-Braves (2-7) dropped the series finale 5-4 to Biloxi (8-1) on Easter Sunday at MGM Park.
The M-Braves nearly came back from down 5-2, scoring two runs in the eighth and putting two runners on in the ninth before a groundout ended the game. The M-Braves outhit the Shuckers 10 to eight but left 12 runners on base.
Down 5-2, Harris II lined a two-run single into right field to pull the M-Braves within one. Harris II finished 2-for-5 with three RBI. Atlanta's top prospect is hitting .378 with 7 RBI, two triples, two doubles and three stolen bases.
The Braves took an early 1-0 lead in the second. Catcher Hendrik Clementina lasered a double to left field. Then a walk, a hit batter and an infield single from Harris II scored a run.
Clementina went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. The catcher caught a speedy Felix Valerio stealing second base with an impressive throw from his knees in the third inning.
In the fourth, Jefrey Ramos launched his first home run to left field to retake the lead 2-1. Ramos has back-to-back games with an RBI.
Tied 2-2, the Shuckers scored three runs in the fifth off a three-run homer from Jackson Reetz.
Reetz brought in all five runs for the Shuckers. Hitting from the ninth spot in the order, the catcher went 3-for-3 with two homers, an RBI single and a walk.
The failed rally gave the Shuckers five out of six in the series.
The M-Braves will get a day off before returning home for a six-game series against the Chattanooga Lookouts at Trustmark Park. RHP Freddy Tarnok is scheduled to start on Tuesday. In his first start, Tarnok tossed 4.2 scoreless innings with one hit, three walks and four strikeouts.
