July 3, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release
The Victoria HarbourCats are on the road for a three-game series in Oregon against the Corvallis Knights.
Alex Rogers, Dominic Topoozian and Henry Omana are the scheduled starters for the HarbourCats, who open the series tonight at Goss Stadium, the home of the Oregon State Beavers. The scheduled starters for Corvallis are not known.
The HarbourCats announce the release of infielder Pikai Winchester, who hit .214 (three hits in six games) with no RBIs and two errors, and the addition of RHP Jonathan Buckley, a 6-4/200 product of Ruben S. Ayala High School who will attend Cal Poly in the fall.
The HarbourCats are home on Monday, the start of a crucial three-game set against division-rival Kitsap, with the BlueJackets currently sitting ahead of the HarbourCats in the West Division standings. The HarbourCats are 5.5 games out of first in the West Division and 4.5 games out of the wildcard spot, and the season not yet at the half-way point.
The next series includes some exciting games, including the July 7 Rotary Day at the Park which coincides with the North Park Neighbourhood Association street fair, adjacent to the park on Vancouver Street, and then on Wednesday, July 8, the HarbourCats are welcoming delegates from the BC Elders Conference to Sports Traders Diamond at RAP.
A reminder, those looking for merchandise, including the sharp new-look caps the team is wearing, head to Sports Traders (on Discovery Street). Also available are the team's jerseys, as for the first time fans can purchase those -- white, blue or the new red Canada Day jersey. Customization is possible.
