Harbin's Clutch Pitching Secures Narrow Win for Bradenton

Bradenton Marauders News Release
Lakeland, Fla.--- The Marauders (2-0, 37-30) and the Lakeland Flying Tigers (0-2, 26-41) met for the fifth game of a six-game series at Publix Field on a typical hot and humid Saturday night in Florida. Bradenton would need only two runs in a nail-biting win that saw a ninth-inning punchout seal the 2-1 triumph for the Young Bucs.
The game featured limited offense for most of the game, primarily due to the outstanding effort of Marauders' starter Alessandro Ercolani. The right-hander from San Marino tossed six scoreless innings while allowing only four men to reach base while striking out four. Ercolani earned his second straight win to bring his record as a pitcher to 3-4 in 2023.
The biggest run-scoring threat for Bradenton came with two outs in the top of the fifth while the game was still scoreless. Jesus Castillo walked to put the go-ahead run on before Geovanny Planchart bounced an automatic double over the wall in left to move Castillo up to third.
With both men in scoring position, Enmanuel Terrero lofted a ball over the head of the shortstop Cristian Santana into shallow centerfield to bring both runners into score, giving the Marauders a 2-0 lead at the halfway point of the game.
Lakeland stole a run back in the bottom of the eighth to pull the game to 2-1; that's when Bradenton called on Ryan Harbin to try and slam the door.
Harbin entered the outing perfect in save opportunities in 2023. The righty from Bartow, FL, allowed both the tying and winning run on base in the ninth, but two outs would freeze a Tigers batter with a fastball down the middle to close out the 2-1 win for Bradenton.
Harbin boasts an impressive 0.91 ERA in 29.2 IP in 2023 and has struck out 38 batters in that time.
The Marauders will look to win their third straight on Sunday afternoon in the series finale scheduled for 1:00.
