Duluth Huskies News Release

DULUTH, MINN. - The Huskies have dominated at Wade Stadium all season long. In their final game of the regular season at their friendly confines, the Huskies sent their fans home happy.

Duluth recorded their second sweep of the season against La Crosse, downing the Loggers 6-5 on closing night at Wade Stadium. The Huskies finished their regular season 21-14 at Wade Stadium.

Game one didn't see a run across until the fifth inning, but the Huskies (15-17, 34-31) struck earlier in game two. Michael Hallquist recorded his fourth RBI of the season with a deep sacrifice fly to open the scoring. One pitch later, the Huskies perfectly executed a double steal to score Devin Hurdle, building the lead to 2-0.

After a scoreless fourth from the Loggers (14-18, 30-36), the Huskies tallied one more. Cam Frederick laced a base hit to right field, and Loggers' right fielder Alijah Acevedo failed to glove it, allowing Frederick to move to third. Frederick came home on a wild pitch by La Crosse starter Drew Christo to make it 3-0 Huskies.

Duluth starter Drew Conn was excellent in his third start of the season. Conn kept the Loggers off the board with five shutout innings, striking out three.

The Loggers got on the board for the first time all series in the top of the seventh. Ty Hamiltpn corked a double to reduce the lead to 4-1.

After Michael Hallquist tallied his third RBI of the night, the Loggers tied the game with a four-run ninth inning. Acevedo's three-run double brought the Loggers back, tying the game at five.

The Huskies have produced one magic moment after another in the second half, and Eddie Satisky became the seventh different Huskies player to walk off this season. His RBI single scored Jared Mettam from second base, giving the Huskies the win.

Devin Dodson earned his third win of the season for Duluth, while Brett Suessell took his second loss of the year.

The Huskies close their regular season on the road for a two game set against the Willmar Stingers at Bill Taunton Stadium. First pitch for game one is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:05 P.M.
