Hammerheads Win

May 2, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) - Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Chris Harrington had a night all quarterbacks dream of having. The Hammerheads second year QB was 27-33 for 208 yards and 6 TD's. The most important stat was he had no turnovers. Harrington hooked up with Devin Green on three scores as Devin reeled in a Hammerheads record 14 passes for 103 yards.

"I felt very confident out there tonight," said Harrington. Mike Green got the Hammerheads on the board with a five yard run. For the remainder of the first half it was back and forth with the Hammerheads coming up with some key stops to take a 32-23 lead into the locker room.

The second half the Hammerheads came out on fire as Harrington hooked up with Martin Dossett on a 23 yard toss. Beaumont kicker Chris Stropolo then connected on a 49 yard field goal. The Hammerheads quickly responded with TD runs from Devin Green and Terrence Bennett respectively. That gave the Hammerheads a 26 point cushion. Beaumont was never able to mount a comeback and the Hammerheads won by a final of 66-46.

"This win tonight is huge for us following last weeks heartbreaker," stated Coach McKinley. "I expect the team to build off of this win and carry into this week's game in Lubbock," added McKinley.

The Hammerheads battle the Gunslingers Saturday night in Lubbock at 7:05. All the action can be heard on 96.5 the Beach starting with the pregame at 6:50. The Hammerheads next home game is May 22nd vs. the Tri- Cities Fever as the Hammerheads look to avenge a one point loss at the hands of the Fever earlier in the season. For tickets call 814-PASS.
