JUPITER, Fla. - Josh Adams' walk-off RBI single lifted the Hammerheads to a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Cardinals Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

Entering the bottom of the ninth tied 1-1, Austin Nola led off with a single to center field. Ross Wilson's sacrifice bunt advanced Nola to second, putting a runner in scoring position with just one out. A Jose Almarante wild pitch allowed Nola to take third base. Two batters later, Adams lined a single over the shortstop's head into left field, scoring Nola from third and clinching Jupiter's sixth-straight win.

RHP Jay Rogers started and pitched five innings for Jupiter, allowing just one earned run on four hits and two walks. The outing lowered his season ERA to 2.55.

RHP Jacob Esch-in his first appearance since coming off the disabled list before Friday's game-pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Esch made three starts for the Hammerheads in April before being shelved with right biceps tendinitis.

RHP Nick Wittgren recorded the final six outs, earning his first win of the season. The Hammerheads closer now owns a sparkling 0.82 ERA and a 27/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 22 innings this season.

LHP Ryan Sherriff tossed five strong innings in defeat for Palm Beach. Making just his second start of the season, Sherriff allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks, striking out four.

Brent Keys went 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot for Jupiter, raising his average to .364. Keys has a hit in four straight, and at least one in 11 of the 13 games he's played since joining the team on May 2.

The streaking Hammerheads-now winners in 15 of their last 18-will take on the Cardinals in Game 2 of their three-game set Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. RHP Jose Urena (4-1, 5.02 ERA) will toe the rubber for Jupiter, opposing Palm Beach's LHP Jonathan Cornelius (1-1, 4.03 ERA).
