April 15, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Corpus Christi, TX- The Corpus Christi Hammerheads and Odessa Roughnecks clash on Monday, April 18, 2005 for the first time this year, in what is sure to be a match up of interest for years to come. The Hammerheads have been practicing hard this week in preparation of this hard-nosed battle in the trenches. Never before has a game of this magnitude been played in Corpus Christi. Key acquisitions of WR Shomari Buchanan, FB/LB Adrian Barnes, and OL David Lose are going to help against Odessa this week. The possibility of a return of DL Terrence Mouton has also got the Shark Tank buzzing. The Hammerheads put together an impressive win against the Kreatures last weekend in Florida and have begun to show signs of what is in store for opposing teams this year. Mike Green showed promise as well in Florida as got his first touchdown of the year and averaged 5 yards per carry. The Hammerheads Defense needs to come up big on Monday in order to hand the as yet undefeated Odessa Roughnecks a loss. The Stage is set for the biggest game to be played in the New American Bank Center yet, so hold on to your hats folks, this ride could get bumpy.

Who's Hot: RB Fred Wallace is on a tear with 14 rushing touchdowns in 4 games can anyone stop the A-Train? WR/DB Eddie Miller has 3 Kick Returns for TD's; watch out Miller Time has arrived. WR Martin Dossett has come on as of late and is on fire he had a spectacular diving catch for a TD against San Angelo.

What to look for: Look for Fred Wallace to continue business as usual, and for Mike Green to bolster that one two punch of 250-lb plus running back in your face. Watch for Eddie Miller streaking down the sidelines to pay dirt on Kick-offs, he's dangerous on the return. Look for Martin Dossett to continue to break out with a couple of TD's. Also, watch for the Hammerhead Defense to come up with a big game with some addition to D-Line that may provide the winning edge.

The unbeaten Roughnecks have a rejuvenated team that is stacked with talent and armed with fury. After finishing third out of six teams a year ago in the IFL, the Roughnecks have so far tamed their NIFL foes. After punishing the Beaumont Drillers, narrowly defeating the Lincoln Capitols, and withstanding a late run by the Fayetteville Guard the Roughnecks have emerged unscathed and look to stay on their road to victory. Unfortunately for them that road to victory takes them through the Shark Tank. The players are ready and emotions are running high for this game.

The Hammerheads are anticipating the biggest crowd in their history for this game that is quickly shaping up to be a classic in the making. Don't miss your chance to be a part of history, get your tickets now by calling (361) 814-PASS or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
