Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Corpus Christi, TX: Hammerheads Owner and President Chad Dittman announced today that the IFL Franchise and Head Coach Stephen Fillmore agreed in principle to a contract extension through the 2011 season. Contract terms were not disclosed.

After 10 games the Hammerheads have already won as many games as last season, and are currently poised for a playoff run.

"The Team is moving in the right direction and I am pleased with what I am seeing on the field especially with the defense", said Dittman. "We faced some adversity this season and he didn't allow the team to quit". Dittman went on to say that, "The players Stephen has added to our team are tremendous and I'm looking forward to what he can add to the mix in the off season". "I certainly am convinced I made the right hire in January and decided to pull the trigger and extend the contract now", he added.

"I'm happy that Chad and the team wants me to continue as Head Coach next year, but my focus right now is this season, improving our playoff position, and making a run at a championship", said Fillmore.

The Hammerheads currently sit in the sixth seed of the IFL playoffs and still have an excellent opportunity to move up to the fourth spot and host a playoff game.

The team hits the road again Saturday to take on the West Texas Roughnecks. Fans can follow the action on ESPN Corpus Christi, (1230AM, 96.1FM and 103.3FM), with Scott Howe. The broadcast begins at 6:40pm.

The Hammerheads return to the American Bank Center on Sunday Jun 6th against the Abilene Ruff Riders. Tickets are available at American Bank Center box office, Ticketmaster, ticketmaster.com, or by calling the Hammerheads at (361)814-PASS (7277).
