Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
The Jupiter Hammerheads' winning streak comes to an end after four. On Thursday night, the St. Lucie Mets beat the Hammerheads 1-0 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
In a good old-fashioned pitching duel, the lone run of the ballgame came in the top of the ninth inning on a wild pitch.
With impressive pitching performances by the Hammerheads in the first two games of the series, this one was no different. Starter Justin Fall struck out 10 batters in five innings of work. The Arizona State product allowed only three hits in his second start of the season.
Tyler Eckberg and Chandler Jozwiak kept the momentum going. Each reliever pitched shut-out baseball out of the bullpen. Eckberg went two innings and struck out four in his outing. Jozwiak pitched one frame on Thursday. Righty A.J. Candelario gets saddled with the loss after taking over the ninth inning.
As a whole, the Hammerheads pitching staff struck out 16 batters and didn't allow a walk in the game. St. Lucie has scored a combined two runs in the series so far. The Mets have also struck out a total of 39 times since arriving in Jupiter.
The Mets matched the Hammerheads' strong pitching tonight, however. St. Lucie held Jupiter to just two hits, one came in the first inning and the other came in the second frame. Jupiter also struck out 12 times as a team Thursday.
The two Treasure Coast teams will face off for Game Four in the six-game series on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm as RDCS hosts their first Dog Days of Summer. Man's best friend gets in free with a paid human ticket. Come join all the tail-waggin' fun! Tickets are still available.
