Hamara & Jiricek Named to Czechia World Juniors Preliminary Roster

The Brantford Bulldogs are very excited and very proud to see our own defenseman Tomas Hamara named to an incredible 3rd straight Team Czechia entry for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.

Hamara, originally drafted by the Kitchener Rangers in the 1st round, 26th overall of the 2022 CHL Import Draft and acquired by the Bulldogs on November 11th, adds to an already tremendous international resume. Having moved from his Prague, Czechia home as a young teen to Tampere, Finland to play in the Tappara Tampere system, Hamara has gone onto represent his home nation at a pair of IIHF World Under-18 Championships, being named an all-star in 2022, and a pair of IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, winning silver in 2023. Hamara has also medalled while captaining Czechia at the European Youth Olympic Festival, captaining Czechia's U-17 entry and won an SM-Liiga Championship with Tappara in 2022.

Drafted to the NHL by the Ottawa Senators in the 3rd round, 87th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, Hamara will now have an opportunity to become one of a select group to represent Czechia in 3 consecutive World Juniors Championships, now as a respected veteran looking to lead his nation to gold.

Joining Tomas Hamara on the Czechia entry will be the Bulldogs top pick in the 2023 CHL Import Draft, Adam Jiricek. A top prospect for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Adam Jiricek will follow in the footsteps of older brother David, now with the Columbus Blue Jackets, & now teammate Hamara, in representing his country at the World Junior Hockey Championships at just 17-years old. The elder Jiricek, like Hamara was named to three World Juniors himself and played alongside current Bulldog Hamara and Bulldogs alumni & 2022 OHL Champion Jan Mysak, who is also part of the Triple Junior Club for Czechia.

Now Adam Jiricek will take centre stage looking to make his statement. Already having represented Czechia at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge & World Under-18 Championship, Jiricek adds an imposing presence at 6'2 ‚¬Â³/180 with incredible mobility & skill.
