WORCESTER, MA. - The Pirates have added a key playmaker to their roster for next season. Wide receiver Rannell Hall, who previously played for the organization in 2019, has been signed for 2021. Hall played in a total of two games for Massachusetts in 2019. He debuted in the Pirates final regular season game and also played in the team's first-round playoff game. He starred in his short time, hauling in 17 catches, 232 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Hall (right) securing a pass in his first game with Massachusetts in July 2019.

Pirates president and general manager Jawad Yatim was eager to bring Hall back into the fold.

"Rannell is equally as great a person as he is a football player. To be as productive as he was given the minimal preparation and practice time he had with us in 2019 exemplifies the type of player he is. He's a true three way player, and our coaches will certainly appreciate his versatility. He can be effective as a receiver, kick returner and in the secondary. Glad to have him on board."

Hall (6'0", 200 pounds) has spent time in several other professional football leagues. Most recently, Hall was drafted by the Tampa Bay Vipers in the 2020 XFL Draft, where he was positioned primarily as a kick returner. In Spring 2019, Hall played for the Orlando Apollos in the AAF and appeared in all eight games as a wide receiver. Hall was signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in May 2019, but was released two days later.

The Miami, Florida native has also spent time in the NFL. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in May 2015 and was later signed to the team's practice squad in September 2015. The Cleveland Browns signed Hall off Tampa Bay's practice squad in December 2015. He appeared in one game for the Browns that season.

He spent the next two years in the Browns organization before being released from the team's practice squad in December 2017. Hall's last stop in the NFL was with the Atlanta Falcons on their practice squad in 2018.

Hall played four years of college football at the University of Central Florida (2011-14). As a true freshman in 2011, he was selected to the All-Conference USA First Team as a kick returner. As a junior, Hall posted career-highs in receptions (57), receiving yards (886), and receiving touchdowns (5). He played a pivotal role on his team that season, as UCF went 12-1 and won the 2014 Fiesta Bowl. After his senior season, Hall was invited to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl in January 2015.
