Halifax Hangs on for a Wild Win in Saint John

There was no shortage of drama inside Harbour Station Saturday night as the Halifax Rainmen won a wild affair over the Saint John Mill Rats. With the victory the Rainmen snap a two game losing streak and improve to 6 and 5 in the Atlantic Division.

The game remained close from the opening tipoff, with Halifax holding the largest lead of the nights, 12 points, during the second quarter. The first half would end with the Rainmen hanging on to a slim 55-51 lead. The Mill Rats would play aggressive defence in the second half, and were able to chip away at the Rainmen lead. With several late fourth quarter lead changes the game came down to the final moments, and saw the Rainmen hang on for the very important victory.

Your Halifax Rainmen were led in scoring by Sefton Barrett, who had 19 points on the night. Kevin Young contributed 17 points and had 6 rebounds. Cliff Clinkscales had 11 assists in the game. The Mill Rats were led by Anthony Anderson who had 28 points and 8 assists. They also received 27 points and 8 rebounds from Kenny Jones. Raheem Singleton had a double double for the Mill Rats, 17 points and 11 assists.

The Halifax Rainmen will be back in action on Boxing Day, December 26th, for a special 2pm tip off against the Saint John Mill Rats inside the Scotiabank Centre. Tickets are available at the Scotiabank Centre Office, through Ticket Atlantic and by visiting www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
