Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Add Daniel Haigwood's name to the ever-growing list of Winnipeg Goldeyes picked up by Major League organizations.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the sale of Haigwood's contract to the Oakland Athletics. He becomes the 56th member of the Goldeyes to move on to organized ball after playing in Winnipeg.

Haigwood, 25, leaves town just three days after tossing an absolute gem in Fargo, blanking the RedHawks for seven innings while holding them to just five hits in a 3-1 Goldeyes win. It improved his record to 3-0 while lowering his earned run average more than a full point to 4.58.

Haigwood signed with the Goldeyes in April after going to spring training with Pittsburgh. He will report to Oakland's Texas (AA) League club in Midland.
