St. Cloud River Bats News Release

(St. Cloud, MN) Once again Bryan Haar blasted the Bats past the Mankato Moon Dogs. For the 10th time this season Haar hit one over the fence to secure a 7-3 Bats win.

Haar's home run posted three Bats runs on the scoreboard, but Mankato's Shaun Cooper smashed a historic home run of his own.

Cooper clobbered a pitch in the second inning past the left field fence for his 20th long ball of the summer. This home run gives Cooper the all-time single season home run record in the Northwoods League.

In the first inning, the Bats put the scoreboard operator to work. Carlos Lopez scored on a Mankato error to give the Bats a one run lead.

Two innings later, Cooper crushed his historic dinger. Mankato would add another run in the frame to take a 2-1 advantage.

Lopez scored again in the bottom half of the third to tie the game at two. The Cal State-Fullerton Titan reached base three times on the night and scored every time he got aboard.

The Bats broke the tie in the fourth . A defensive miscue allowed C.J. Gillman to score. Andy Henkemeyer slugged a triple that drove in Dan Harder and made it 4-2.

A two bagger by Henkemeyer began the bottom of the seventh for the Bats. Lopez drew a walk.

With two runners on base, Haar, the reigning NWL Player of the Night, destroyed his third home run in three nights. The San Diego infielder claimed the team lead with his 30th RBI of the season.

Mankato tacked on a run in the ninth. However, Tadd Johansen closed out the Moon Dogs to record the four inning save.

Matt Iannazzo chalked up nine k's en route to his fifth win of the season. Dan Harder delivered his second consecutive multi-hit performance.

An exhibition game between the police and fire department baseball squads leads into the series finale between the Bats and Moon Dogs. The gates open at Joe Faber Field for this event, dubbed Guns and Hoses Night, at 4 pm.
