Sharp Added as GM for the NWL St. Cloud Franchise

ST. CLOUD, MN- The St. Cloud franchise of the Northwoods League has announced today that they have hired Wes Sharp as their General Manager.

Sharp was formerly the Director of Promotions and Marketing for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the top minor league affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

"It's an honor and a privilege to in St. Cloud with such a great baseball community." Sharp said. "Couple that with the great ownership group that's been established here and I think this can be an incredibly successful organization."

While in Colorado Springs Sharp helped lead the Sky Sox organization to an overall franchise attendance record, a per game attendance record, and win the prestigious Bob Freitas award for Triple-A Organization of the Year, as voted on by Baseball America.

"I learned a ton while I was in Colorado Springs and was involved in an organization that won the top award you can receive in this business." Sharp said. "I will undoubtedly bring those experiences with me as we try and put new life into Northwoods League baseball in St. Cloud."

Prior to joining the Sky Sox Sharp spent three years with the River Bats where he was eventually their Director of Business Operations. Sharp helped organize a roster that made a playoff run in 2010 before getting ousted by the eventual league champion Rochester Honkers.

"Wes has had some great experience, not only in the Northwoods League but also at the Triple-A level." Scott Schreiner, Vice President of the St. Cloud organization said. "His energy and experiences combined with his personality make him a perfect fit for both this community and this organization and we couldn't be happier to have him on board."

Sharp has spent a lot of time in the Granite City where he also graduated from St. Cloud State University earning a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Public Relations.
