MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers and H-E-B announced today the creation of an Official Pep Band for the Vipers. The band will play during every Vipers home game and the October 7 NBA preseason game between the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics at Dodge Arena.

The band will be introduced on Sunday, October 4 at the McAllen Convention Center at 11:30 a.m. as part of RGV Rocket Launch 2009, a festival surrounding Rockets Training Camp in the Rio Grande Valley.

"Having a band at all of our games will give us a new dynamic. With the help of HEB, we are incorporating the pep band atmosphere at our games to further add to the fun and excitement of attending a Vipers game," Vipers President/GM Brian Michael Cooper said.

The band is made up of teenagers and young adults who are a part of the Mystikal Youth Arts Organization. Founded in 2003 for the welfare of young musicians who cannot travel or cannot meet the large financial obligation required by other drum corps., Mystikal works in conjunction with The Boy Scouts of America to offer the chance to not only participate in a highly competitive performing arts activity, but to interact with the community and develop leadership skills while creating positive life experiences for all who participate.

Tickets to RGV Rocket Launch can be purchased at the door, or online through EZ-TIXX.com, for $5 per day. Two-day passes are available for $7.
