
Gutierrez's Triple-Double Leads Charge Past D-Fenders at NBA D-League Showcase

The Canton Charge (8-11), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, topped the Los Angeles D-Fenders (9-11), 118-113, to win their second and final game at the 2016 NBA D-League Showcase in Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday afternoon.
Canton's Jorge Gutierrez posted his first triple-double of the season by scoring 18 points on 5-of-8 from the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals. Quinn Cook scored a team-high 23 points with five boards, six assists, and two steals. Los Angeles Clippers assignee C.J. Wilcox added 21 points for the Charge.
To further the six in double-figures for Canton, Nick Minnerath came off the bench to provide 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting with eight rebounds in 30 minutes. Sir'Dominic Pointer added 12 points and three boards in just 13 minutes. Cristiano Felicio scored 10 points and grabbed three boards on assignment from the Chicago Bulls
Los Angeles pulled ahead for a 35-25 lead after the first, with Blue and Kelly combining for 13 and 10 points each respectively. The Charge's Wilcox netted 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the opening quarter. Both teams shot over 50% from the field, but the D-Fenders forced six turnovers and outscored the Charge 12-2 in the paint to help gain the advantage.
Canton began the second on a 9-0 run in the first 2:41 with four different players chipping in scoring to tie the game, 34-34. The teams went back-and-forth with seven lead changes and seven ties throughout the quarter, with Canton eventually gaining a 55-54 advantage at the half. The D-Fenders' offense Cleveland Cavaliers second round draft pick Sir'Dominic Pointer scored 10 points in the quarter for the Charge.
The two teams continued to go back-and-forth in the third for two more lead changes and three ties, with neither able to maintain an advantage. With the D-Fenders leading 79-78 and 2:17 left, the Charge finished the period on a 8-2 run to go up 86-81. Kelly and Gutierrez netted 11 and 10 points respectively in the quarter to lead their teams.
Canton led for the entire fourth quarter and held off Los Angeles on four separate occasions where they came within one score. The D-Fenders' Tarik Black finished with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and five boars on assignment from the Lakers. The Charge's Cristiano Felicio added 10 points on assignment from the Chicago Bulls.
Ryan Kelly paced Los Angeles with 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting and six rebounds on assignment from the Lakers. Vander Blue scored 20 of his 29 points in the first half to go along with five assists and two steals. Andre Ingram came off the bench to add 21 points on 6-of-9 from three-point range in 26 minutes.
