Arkansas RimRockers News Release
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., October 25 - The Arkansas RimRockers will host the 2006 NBA Development League Draft Party on Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00pm at Gusano's Pizzeria, located at 313 President Clinton Avenue in the River Market District.
"The draft is an important part of putting together a good team," said Head Coach Andy Stoglin. "Allowing our fans to be a part of that is just something special that the RimRockers offer. (The Draft Party) is a great way to introduce the fans to our players."
Gusano's, the only smoke free restaurant in the River market District, will be hosting the 2nd annual RimRockers Draft Party. This family event is free to the public with food and drink specials available. Come early and meet the coaches and staff before they head to the war room to make their selections. During the draft, fans will enjoy door giveaways with great prizes including autographed authentic game-worn jerseys and basketballs; participate in live on air interviews with players and coaches, and meet the RimRockettes and Slam Dunk.
The sixth annual draft will be conducted via conference call from D-League draft headquarters at the NBA TV studios and at locations in each of the 12 D-League cities. NBA TV coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-draft show hosted by Rick Kamla designed to preview the selection process and to bring fans up to speed on the latest D-League news. The D-League's new basketball featuring Spalding's Cross TraxxionTM technology will also be unveiled during the preview show.
"Last years Draft Party was a huge success and the fans really enjoyed it;" said VP of Sales & Marketing Scotty Adams. "This year it will be bigger and better with it being live on NBA TV"
Draft coverage continues on NBA TV and begins on NBA Radio on SIRIUS Satellite Radio (Channel 127) and on D-LEAGUE.com with the start of the 10-round draft at 8 p.m. NBA director of scouting Marty Blake, along with assistant director of scouting Ryan Blake, will team up with Kamla and D-League vice president of basketball operations Chris Alpert to offer commentary throughout the event.
