Guerrero Gets Promoted to Louisville

Blue Wahoos center fielder Gabriel Guerrero has earned a well-deserved promotion to AAA Louisville. He has spent parts of four seasons in AA, all in the Southern League, for three different teams. This is the outfielder's first promotion to AAA after 791 minor league games, 376 at AA. He was hitting .296 in his second season with the Blue Wahoos with two home runs and 16 RBI. He's coming off one of the best seasons of his career in which he hit .273 with seven home runs and 50 RBI to help lead the Wahoos to the team's first ever Southern League crown in 2017.

Guerrero was originally signed by the Seattle Mariners in 2011. In June of 2015, he was sent to the Diamondbacks as part of a trade for Mark Trumbo. The Reds claimed him off waivers in 2016 from the Diamondbacks. He has spent the duration of his time in the Reds organization in Pensacola. Guerrero is the nephew of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr. and Wilton Guerrero. His cousin is one of the game's top prospects, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

In a corresponding move, LHP Juan Martinez has been transferred from the Billings roster. Martinez has made one appearance with the Blue Wahoos this season. He logged two scoreless innings last series against the Mississippi Braves.

The Blue Wahoos kick off a 10-day road trip tonight in Birmingham. First pitch of the is set for 7:05 from Regions Field.
