Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce that Wide Receiver/Defensive Back, Kyle Grove, has been assigned to their roster for the remainder of the 2005 season. Grove was part of the 2004 Division Champion Pioneers.
"It's great to have Kyle back with us this season," said Coach Les Moss of Grove's assignment. "He brings a level of skill and experience which will help the players develop into an even better team."
In 2004 at Defensive Specialist, Grove racked up 80.5 tackles (67 unassisted), 1 tackle for a loss, five interceptions, 22 passes defended and one fumble recovery for the Pioneers.
Grove was invited to participate in training camp with the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers in early 2004. He played in nine games for the Pioneers in 2003, racking up 62 tackles (40 unassisted), one sack, one interception, and two fumble recoveries. He has also played for several teams in NFL Europe, including Barcelona, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
Grove played collegiate football at Norfolk State in Virginia. In four seasons with the Spartans he recorded a total of 83 tackles and five interceptions. He graduated in 2001 with a degree in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science.
Kyle Grove attended Essex Catholic High School in East Orange, New Jersey where he excelled in football, wrestling, track and baseball.
