FIRE HEADING SOUTH... The Fire will leave today for Birmingham, AL for a rematch with the Steeldogs. The Fire and the Steeldogs last met in Freedom Hall on April 30 with the Fire winning 48-46. The last time the two teams met in Birmingham on May 10, 2003 with the Fire also winning that game 40-37. The game can be heard on 1080-AM WKJK starting at 7:50 on Saturday night with Paul Wilman calling all the action.

VEGAS, BABY, VEGAS... The AFL's 2005 season will culminate this Sunday with Arena Bowl XIX at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. The game will feature the Colorado Crush, former Fire DS Jabir Walker is on the Crush practice squad, and the Georgia Force. Both teams won close games last weekend to advance, the Crush beat Chicago 49-43 in overtime and the Force came back from 14 down to beat Orlando 60-58. The game will kick-off at 3:30 on WAVE-3 Sunday afternoon.

BLIZZARD COMING IN... The Fire returns home next Saturday for a rematch with the Green Bay Blizzard. The Blizzard defeated the Fire 65-49 in Green Bay on May 14. The Indianapolis Colts caravan will be in the tailgate parking lot, the Colts Cheerleaders will perform at the game and Colts receiver Troy Walker will be on hand. Hillerich and Bradsby has also sponsored the third bat in our mini-bat giveaway set, this year's bat is red with black lettering. Kick-off is set for 7:30 P.M but get here early to enjoy the Meijer Kids Zone and the Sumerset Houseboats Party Zone.

MEIJER NIGHT... Fire fans at the June 18 home game you can be rewarded for shopping at Meijer stores. You can bring a Meijer receipt to the box office and buy one upper arena ticket and get one free. We will also be giving away four $50 gift cards from Meijer to be used for groceries, gas or other items at Meijer.

TURN OLD INTO GOLD... The Fire has teamed up with Special Olympics Kentucky to turn your old cell phones into gold for area Special Olympics athletes. Donate your old cell phone at the Fire Will Call office on game night and receive one free admission ticket per phone. FIRE COMES UP SHORT... The Fire were down by 20 points at one point in Quad City and fought hard to come back, but fell six points short losing 47-41. The Fire and the ‘Wheelers will meet again on July 30 in Freedom Hall.
