Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, CALIF. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has agreed to terms with right wing Spencer Carbery for the 2008-09 season.
Carbery originally joined the Falcons on February 26 of last season in a trade with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, who had claimed him off waivers from the Stockton Thunder. The 26-year-old tallied two goals and two assists, while adding 68 penalty minutes in 20 games with Fresno. In 58 overall games with the Falcons, Stockton, and Bakersfield, Carbery notched 12 points and accumulated 155 penalty minutes. During his first professional season in 2006-07, he appeared in 63 games for the Central Hockey League's Tulsa Oilers, scoring 16 goals and adding 28 assists while also racking up 157 penalty minutes.
"We want to go into this season with a certain team attitude," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "Spencer's qualities embody what that is: tough, hard to play against, with the ultimate goal of team success first. In a short time last season, he proved that he has the ability to be a leader and play considerable minutes. We are very excited to have him back."
Opening Night 2008 at Selland Arena is set for Friday, October 24, when the Falcons host their arch-rivals, the Bakersfield Condors, at 7:35 p.m. Season Ticket packages start at just $432, and are now available by calling the Falcons at (559) 485-7825.
