Grissom Blasts First Double-A Home Run, M-Braves Top Trash Pandas 9-3

PEARL, MS - Vaughn Grissom blasted his first Double-A home run to left center, and the Mississippi Braves (39-44, 10-4) topped the Rocket City Trash Pandas (50-33, 9-5) 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park.

Grissom and Trey Harris each finished with three hits. Harris went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and a single along with two RBI in his first three-hit game of the season.

For the second straight game, the M-Braves jumped out to an early lead in the first. Grissom smashed his first Double-A home run to left center to make it 1-0.

Since joining the M-Braves on Tuesday, Grissom is 6-for-10 with a home run and 3 RBI.

A sacrifice fly from Yariel Gonzalez, his 30th RBI, made it 2-0 at the end of the first.

Drew Lugbauer punched a two-run single into right field to extend the lead to 4-0 in the second.

Lugbauer picked up a hit for the fourth time in five games, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

LHP Hayden Deal delivered four shutout innings in his second spot start. The outing was his longest of the season, and the left-hander gave up two hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

RHP Troy Bacon improved to 5-1 with two innings of relief, allowing one run with three strikeouts.

After the clubs exchanged runs in the sixth, Riley Delgado banged a two-run double off the bullpen wall in left field to make it 7-1.

Delgado went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in his 17 multi-hit game of the season.

In the eighth, Harris rocketed an RBI triple into right center field to make it 9-3 M-Braves.

RHP Odalvi Javier shut the door with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The second game of the series is on Wednesday at Trustmark Park. RHP Darius Vines (4-4, 4.94) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Mason Erla (3-0, 1.84) Rocket City.
