Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release

The Ohio Valley Greyhounds have signed linebacker Mike Borisenko from IUP. Borisenko, from Waterdown, Ontario, finished his career at IUP as the sixth-leading tackler in school history with 352 stops. That total included 203 solo tackles, 46 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks. Slowed during his senior season by a combination of toe and arm problems, Mike still finished fourth on the team in tackles with 61, including 10 tackles for loss, and 2 ½ sacks.

Entering his senior season, Borisenko had been one of the most highly decorated players in IUP history. He was selected the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year after both his sophomore and junior seasons and was a consensus All-America as a junior. He was also honored by PSAC sports information directors as a recipient of the Top Ten award his sophomore and junior seasons for his combined athletic and academic excellence.

With Borisenko as the anchor, IUP ranked among the top defenses in both the PSAC and Division II all four years. IUP posted a record of 35-11 during Mike's four years and advanced to the NCAA playoffs in each season of his career and won two games en route to the National Semifinals when he was a sophomore in 1999.

Mike maintained a 3.31 GPA as a physical education and sport major at IUP and qualified for the Dean's List in five of his six semesters at IUP and was an IUP and PSAC Scholar-Athlete.

Mike spent the 2003 season with Hamilton Tigercats of the Canadian Football League.
