Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release

Despite each team being just two contests into their 14-game docket, the Ohio Valley Greyhounds and the Staten Island Xtreme will meet for the final time of the season tonight, barring playoff implications.

The Hounds and Xtreme met for the season opener in week three, with Ohio Valley ransacking Staten Island on the field with a 58-16 victory at WesBanco Arena. Angel Estrada flexed his football muscle by scoring four touchdowns, playing both sides of the ball.

Staten Island returned home last weekend, only to play a scrimmage due to a forfeit by their opponents (Atlantic City).

The Greyhounds took down the Stingrays last Friday, as Shane Franzer lead the way completing 10 of 15 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns. All three scores went to John Cooper.

¨ The Series

The Greyhounds lead the series 1-0 after winning the inaugural meeting on March 29th.

The Hounds opened the season with a 58-16 win over the Xtreme, thanks in large part to Angel Estrada. The former WVU All-Big East defensive back shined on the offensive side of the ball, scoring four touchdowns (three receiving and one rushing).

Tonight's contest is the final meeting between the two teams this season.

¨ Bonar Against Staten Island

Coach Bonar is now 1-0 against the Xtreme, with the lone victory coming at the beginning of the season for Bonar's Greyhounds.

Including the playoffs, Bonar now stands 6-1 all-time against Avery Atadero-coached teams. Mark was 3-1 against Atadero's Tennessee ThunderCats in 2002; 2-0 against the BlueCats in 2003; and 1-0 so far this season against "Coach A" and his Xtreme.

Atadero is the last coach to defeat Bonar and the Greyhounds.

¨ Perfect in the East

Ohio Valley is a combined 7-0 all-time against its divisional opponents after beating Myrtle Beach on Friday. O.V. is now 4-0 overall against the Stingrays, as well as 2-0 against Greenville and 1-0 over Staten Island.
