Greenville Triumph Narrows Name for Women's Team to Five Finalists

(Greenville, SC) - The Greenville Triumph have narrowed to five the list of possible names for its new USL W League women's soccer team and are asking fans to vote for their favorite.

In alphabetical order, the five finalists are:

Ascent

Glory

Liberty

Spark

Wrens

The team received nearly 300 submissions from fans during a campaign this fall seeking suggestions for the team's name. The Triumph narrowed the list to the five most popular to be voted on by the community. The grand prize winner who suggested the winning name will receive two season tickets.

"We were overwhelmed by the number of submissions we received and impressed by the thoughtfulness and creativity behind the suggestions," said Doug Erwin, Vice Chairman and Chief Brand Offer. "The ideas were an honest reflection of how proud people are to be part of the Greenville and Upstate communities. We're excited to see this passion carry into the upcoming inaugural season."

Voting begins today at BuiltbyGreenville.com and runs through Dec. 17. The team's name along with its crest and colors will be announced in early 2022.

The women's team is set to compete in the new USL W League beginning spring 2022. Tickets for the women's 2022 season can be purchased by visiting greenvilletriumph.com/wleague.
