GREENVILLE, S.C. (November 25, 2002) - The Greenville Groove has added forward Fred Williams to its roster, it was announced today by National Basketball Development League Executive Director Karl Hicks and Groove Head Coach Tree Rollins. Williams assumes the roster spot of Robert Conley, who left the team for personal reasons.
This is Williams' second stint in Greenville. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Alabama-Birmingham ('99) product joined the Groove late last season and appeared in one playoff game. He finished his collegiate career at UAB after spending two seasons at Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College. As a senior at UAB, Williams averaged 15.2 points and 6.0 rebounds.
Conley left the Greenville team after averaging 7.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in two games.
Williams is scheduled to wear jersey number 3 for the Groove in Tuesday's home game against Asheville.
