GreenJackets Win 2015 Season Home Opener

AUGUSTA, GA: The Augusta GreenJackets, Single-A affiliate of the 2015 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, returned home for their first home game of the 2015 season on Thursday, April 16 th to host the Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves).
Nathanael Santiago received his first start of the 2015 season for the GreenJackets on Thursday night. Santiago pitched four innings with zero runs allowed, six strikeouts, one walk, and allowing only three hits. Rome's RHP starting pitcher Caleb Baker threw five innings pitched, five strikeouts, one walk, and allowing four hits. Each pitcher left the night with a no decision for their efforts.
Connor Kaden took over in the fifth inning for the GreenJackets. Kaden pitched three innings in relief giving up no hits. Caleb Dirks took the mound for the Braves in a relief effort as well. Dirks gave up three hits, one earned run and recorded three strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Hunter Cole started off the bottom of the sixth inning with a lead off double. Cole later scored on a sacrfice fly off the bat of Skyler Ewing giving the GreenJackets a one run lead. Ewing's sacrfice fly would end up being the only RBI recorded for either team.
Ramon Del Ombre made his first appearance of the year with a two inning save for the GreenJackets. Securing a one to zero victory for the Augusta GreenJackets on the 2015 Home Opener.
Tomorrow night the GreenJackets return back to action against the Rome Braves at 7:05pm. The gates will open to fans starting at 6:00pm. It's the Augusta GreenJackets Team Photo Giveaway & Autograph Session for the first 2,500 fans courtesy of GRHealth! This is your first opportunity to meet the GreenJackets as they will be signing on the field from 6:00PM - 6:20PM. It's also the first Reading Night for the 2015 season for students who achieved their reading goals in Auggie's Reading Program. Post-game Launch-A-Ball and Kids Run the Bases!
