GreenJackets Fall in Series Finale

AUGUSTA, GA: Thursday, August 13th the Augusta GreenJackets (58-57) and the Hagerstown Suns (57-57) took the field for the third and final game of the series. The Suns jumped out to an early two run lead in the first inning on the GreenJackets and never looked back. Thursday night's game ended with a final score of twelve to zero in favor of the visiting Suns.

In the first inning the Suns managed to place two runs on the board against starting pitcher Mark Reyes. Reyes who owns the lowest ERA on the GreenJackets staff with ten plus starts, was slowly nickel and dimed by the Suns in the fourth, fifth, and six innings. The Sun's put up a run during each of those innings to jump out to a five to zero lead. Mark Reyes left the night after pitching six innings, giving up five hits, with five earned runs.

From the seventh inning on the Suns manage to collected seven more runs off of the GreenJackets bullpen. Tyler Cyr pitched only two thirds of an inning and gave up three earned runs, Rodolfo Martinez allowed two earned runs on an inning and one third, and Reyes Moronta gave up two earned runs as well in the final inning of play.

Travious Relaford highlighted the GreenJackets offensively on the night by collecting two hits in his four at bats. Relaford wound up accounting for one third of the GreenJackets hits. The final scoreboard line read zero runs, six hits, and four errors for the Augusta GreenJackets and twelve runs, thirteen hits, and one error for the Hagerstown Suns. Sun's Justin Amlung improves to three and one on the season and Mark Reyes finds himself with a record of seven and five.

The GreenJackets will hit the road tomorrow night to take on the Asheville Tourists. The Tourists are tied with the Savannah Sand Gnats for the Southern Divisional lead. As of Thursday night the GreenJackets find themselves just three and half games back while heading into a major three game series against the Asheville Tourists.
