Savannah, GA - Savannah Sand Gnats starter Armando Rodriguez was dominant through seven innings, baffling the Augusta GreenJackets in a 5-0 loss to the Gnats on Saturday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Rodriguez (6-6) struck out seven in seven shutout innings, retiring the last 10 hitters he faced and 15 of the last 16 consecutively. The Jackets didn't register a hit after Nick Liles led off the third inning with a double. Rodriguez allowed just four hits while walking one and hitting a batter.

Savannah drew first blood off Jackets starter Brian Irving in the third with four straight one-out singles. Cesar Puello knocked in a pair with the third of those hits while Travis Ozga followed with a run-scoring hit to make it a 3-0 Sand Gnats lead through three innings.

Irving would depart after just three innings with an injury, but Chris Gloor came in and retired the first seven hitters he faced before allowing a Jet Butler double in the sixth. Gloor's next two pitches went to the backstop, allowing Butler to score the fourth Gnats run of the contest on the second of the two wild pitches. Savannah's final run came on an eighth inning Ozga sacrifice fly.

Irving (6-4) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk in three innings, while striking out two in the loss. The loss was just the fifth time all year that the GreenJackets have been shutout.

The GreenJackets will send Chris Heston (3-11, 4.80) to the mound on Sunday in an attempt to take three of four from the Sand Gnats while Savannah counters with lefty Jimmy Fuller (8-3, 1.93). First pitch will come at 6:05 p.m. with the pregame action beginning at 5:50 p.m. on WRDW AM 1630, www.greenjacketsbaseball.com and www.wrdwam.com.
