Crawdads Take Game Three 7-4

HICKORY, NC - Despite getting 12 hits and leading 3-0, the Kannapolis Intimidators lost the third game of a four game series to the Hickory Crawdads by the score of 7-4. This loss is the second straight for the Intimidators.

After lengthy first and second innings where no one scored, the Intimidators (15-20) got on the board first as Tyler Saladino singled home Daniel Wagner and Ian Gac hit is 18th home run of the season to give the Intimidators a 3-0 off Braden Tullis and the Crawdads (20-14).

However, in the bottom half of the inning, Ryan Buch allowed the lead right back and exited the inning at 3-3 on four hits, including a Vinny DiFazio RBI-double. Buch went five innings and allowed nine hits and four runs, three earned as he allowed another run in the fifth which was unearned on a error by Juan Silverio.

Tied at three, the Intimidators took a 4-3 lead on an RBI-double by Silverio in the fourth inning which chased Tullis from the ballgame. The run though would be the last for the Intimidators as Johan Yan, Jonathan Ortiz and Taylor Tufts did not allow any runs in the final 18 outs of the ballgame after Tullis made his exit. Tufts grabbed his seventh save of the season and Ortiz (3-1) worked 2.2 for his third win of the year.

Tied 4-4, Pat Schatz (0-1) allowed one run in the sixth as a leadoff double by Leonel De Los Santos came around to score and he would take the loss. Matt Wickswat would work the final two innings for the Intimidators, allowing two runs un the seventh and working a clean eighth.

The Intimidators lost for the second time in a row and for the second time in a row where they score first. They look to turn things around on Sunday at 5 pm as Matt Hopps goes in search of his second win of the season and he will be opposed by Matt Thompson.
