Sioux City, IA -The Sioux City Musketeers announced today they will play a "Green vs. Gold" Intersquad game this Friday night, September 11th. The game will be held at the IBP Ice Center and will feature players on the current active roster as well as some players on the Musketeers affiliate list.
Game time is 7:00 pm with doors opening at 6:00 pm. Admission is $5.00 with all proceeds going to the Siouxland Youth Hockey Association.
"This will be the first opportunity for Musketeer's fans to get a look at the 2009-10 team in action", said Musketeers new GM/Head Coach Luke Strand. "This will also give us a look at the players in a game atmosphere which is always advantageous." The 30 players currently in Sioux City will be divided into two teams and will play two 20-minute halves with an intermission in between.
The Musketeers kick off the pre-season schedule next week with a game against the Sioux Falls Stampede in Brookings, SD on Tuesday, September 15th. The squad then heads to Cedar Rapids for the inaugural 'Battle of Iowa' September 19th and 20th. The four Iowa USHL teams, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Des Moines, and Sioux City will battle it out and crown a champion. This will be followed by the USHL Fall Classic September 24th - 26th that will feature all 14 USHL teams in Sioux City playing seven games per day.
