
Gozzo Clutch as the R-Phils Snap Losing Streak

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils fought hard for a 5-4 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on a beautiful Sunday. Reading snapped an eight game losing streak with the win. Sal Gozzo came up big in the ninth for the go-ahead RBI and Brian Marconi finished off the SeaWolves for the save.
Simon Muzziotti had a four-hit contest and Aldrem Corredor had three of his own.
Reading got on the board first thanks to a solo shot by Muzziotti. It was his third long ball of the series.
Erie plated two in the second. They capitalized on two hits and two walks for a 2-1 lead.
The R-Phils tied it up and took back the lead in the fourth. Corredor led off the frame with a single and Kevin Vicuna followed it up with one of his own. Sal Gozzo had a base knock to load them. Johan Rojas grounded out, but drove in a run. Muzziotti sent home Vicuna to make the score 3-2.
In the fifth, Reading added an insurance run. Rojas walked and stole a bag to get into scoring position. Logan O'Hoppe's single sent him across the plate.
The SeaWolves had a two run double from Gage Workman in the seventh to make it 4-4.
Down to their final strike in the top of the ninth, Gozzo doubled up the right field line to drive in Jonathan Guzman for a 5-4 lead.
Erie got the tying and go-ahead runners on in the home half, but Marconi slammed the door shut for the victory.
Ethan Lindow got the start throwing three innings. The southpaw allowed two runs on five hits.
Taylor Lehman had his first frame back since 2021. He set down the side on 13 pitches.
Billy Sullivan let up a hit and hit a batter but got out of the fifth clean.
Erik Miller allowed one hit as well, but also threw up a zero on the scoreboard.
Mike Adams took the seventh.The righty walked three and gave up the double that tied the game.
Francisco Morales pitched a quick eighth with a hit and two strikeouts on ten pitches.
Brian Marconi came in for the second straight night, this time in a save situation. The lefty allowed a double and a walk, but was able to land three strikeouts to end the game. It was his league-leading 13th save.
