
Gotham FC Adds Julian Haigh as High Performance Director

HARRISON, NJ - NJ/NY Gotham FC today announced the addition of Julian Haigh as High Performance Director. Haigh will work in partnership with Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West, Head Coach Juan Carlos Amoros, and the club's medical staff to develop a high-performance strategy that focuses on supporting and maximizing the athletic potential of players.
With more than 12 years of experience working with professional teams and athletes, Haigh will report directly to Averbuch West and will be responsible for all facets of high performance.

"As we continue to build for sustainable on-field success, Julian joins the club at a crucial time, and he brings the experience and energy that will help our players perform at the highest level."
Among Haigh's responsibilities are developing organization-wide programming that includes nutrition, recovery, strength and conditioning, and mental conditioning in addition to overseeing the development of performance recommendations for travel, altitude, training, time zone adjustments, and regular physiological and biomechanical assessments.
As High Performance Director, Haigh will work hand-in-hand with experts in the field to implement this new programming.
Prior to joining the club, Haigh most recently served as the Director of Sports Science for Inter Miami CF in MLS. Haigh also has vast experience in the National Women's Soccer League and women's soccer. From November 2017 to December 2022, he served as Applied Sport Scientist for the U.S. Women's National Team and the NWSL. Additionally, Haigh worked as a High Performance Coach for the Boston Breakers in the NWSL from June 2016 to November 2017.
Before bringing his career to the United States, Haigh spent time in England's professional rugby Super League as the First Team Assistant and Head of Academy Sport Science and Strength and Conditioning for the Widnes Vikings from October 2011 to June 2016. He also worked as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Liverpool Ladies FC from February 2014 to February 2015, and Sports Science Intern at Everton FC from July 2011 to May 2012.
Haigh graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree as well as a Master's in sports and exercise science, and he holds a USSF F Coaching License.
Originally born in Boston, Mass., Haigh grew up in England.
