(Amarillo, TX) --- The Amarillo Gorillas broke open a tie game with four goals in the third period of a 5-2 victory over the Mississippi RiverKings on Sunday in Amarillo.
It was the third straight victory to open the season for the Gorillas, while the RiverKings fell to 1-2-0 for the year.
Amarillo opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Anthony Battaglia, his first of the season. The goal gave the Gorillas a 1-0 lead at the first intermission break.
But the RiverKings came back in the second period, tying the contest on a goal from Ryan Campbell at 11:27 for a 1-1 tie at the second intermission break.
Amarillo responded in the final frame with two goals from Joe Guenther, one from David Nimmo, and another Anthony Battaglia goal. Kevin Jarman's power play goal at 12:38 was the only RiverKings' answer.
