THE SERIES: This is the fourth meeting of the season between the Lubbock Cotton Kings and the Amarillo Gorillas. Lubbock won the first two meetings by the same 6-0 score, but the Gorillas beat the Cotton Kings 2-0 in their lastest encounter last Saturday night.
LET'S REVIEW: The Amarillo Gorillas were blanked 3-0 by the Oklahoma City Blazers on Wednesday night at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Gorillas fired 32 shots at the Blazers net but failed to get one past Boyd Ballard. Gorillas netminder Shawn Degagne had a sold game, making some great saves to keep his team in the hunt all night long.
The Lubbock Cotton Kings edged the Odessa Jackalopes 3-2 on Wednesday night with Jan Melichercik netting the game winner early in the third period.
GOBBLING THE NUMBERS: The Lubbock Cotton Kings have allowed the second fewest goals against in the CHL behind the Austin Ice Bats. Gorillas goaltender Steve DeBus ranks among the Top 10 in Goals Against Average in the league and carries a 2-0-0 mark in his last two starts heading into tonight's game.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE: The Amarillo Gorillas are back on the road tomorrow night when they travel to Albuquerque to face the New Mexico Scorpions. The game will be aired live on 1440 AM The Score, beginning with the pre-game show at 7:40 p.m. local time.
The Gorillas are on home ice next Saturday night when they host the Austin Ice Bats in the second of a home-and-home series. It will be Texas Lottery night and fans will have a chance to win big bucks with scratch and win tickets.
