Goonies Night Highlights Four-Game Homestand with River Cats

June 9, 2010 PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers host Goonies "Never Say Die" Night and Youth Baseball and Softball Weekend presented by RE/MAX during their upcoming four-game homestand against the Sacramento River Cats, starting Thursday at PGE Park.

The homestand begins with a Miller Lite Thursday at PGE Park, including a pre-game concert from Portland-area rock band Perfect Zero.

On Friday, the much-anticipated Goonies "Never Say Die" Night hits PGE Park. With Goonies contests and trivia going on all game and a post-game showing of the movie, fans of the Astoria-filmed classic will be able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film in style. As part of the event, kids 12 and under entering PGE Park on Friday will receive a one-of-a-kind Goonies Treasure Hunt Map and be able to participate in a special baseball treasure hunt during the game.

Then the Beavers celebrate baseball and softball in the Northwest with Youth Baseball and Softball Weekend presented by RE/MAX on Saturday and Sunday. As part of Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday and Kids Sunday, the first 2,000 kids 12 and under at each game will receive a Beavers baseball glove, courtesy of RE/MAX. All Little Leaguers in attendance at Sunday's 2:05 p.m. matinee are invited to participate in the pre-game parade around the field.

SPECIAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS (Homestand 4): Thursday, June 10 Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers begin their homestand against the River Cats with a Miller Lite Thursday. New in 2010, Miller Lite Thursdays will feature local bands playing pre-game sets when the gates open at 6 p.m. Thursday's game will be preceded by a concert by Perfect Zero, a rock band from the Portland area. Also, come enjoy the variety of Miller Lite Thursday specials prior to the first pitch, from 6-7 p.m. in the Widmer Garden.

Friday, June 11 Goonies "Never Say Die" Night / Goonies Treasure Hunt Map Giveaway - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. Hey you guys! In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the locally filmed cult classic, "The Goonies," the Beavers host Goonies 'Never Say Die' Night against Sacramento at PGE Park. All kids, 12 and under, through the gates will receive Goonies Treasure Hunt Maps. Goonies-themed trivia and contests will take place before and during the game, and fans are invited to stick around after the last pitch for a screening of the film on the Beavers video board. Friday's game is also another Zenner's $1 Menu Friday, featuring select menu items - Zenner's hot dogs, Sierra Springs water and Fudgesicle and Creamsicle treats - for only $1.

Saturday, June 12 Youth Baseball and Softball Weekend / Beavers Baseball Gloves presented by RE/MAX - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 7:05 p.m. Youth Baseball and Softball Weekend presented by RE/MAX begins on a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under through the gates will receive a Beavers baseball glove, courtesy of RE/MAX. Fans will also get the chance to meet Beavers players before the game as part of the second Meet-the-Team promotion of 2010.

Sunday, June 13 Kids Day - Beavers vs. Sacramento - 2:05 p.m. The homestand wraps up with the conclusion of Youth Baseball and Softball Weekend presented by RE/MAX, including a pre-game parade for all Little Leaguers in attendance. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under through the gates will receive a Beavers baseball glove, courtesy of RE/MAX. Sunday is a special Kids Club Day at PGE Park, with Beavers Kids Club members gaining early entrance for a special question-and-answer session with Beavers players. Prior to the first pitch, all kids 12 and under can take advantage of the Beavers' Kids-Eat-Free plan, play catch on the field and get autographs from Beavers players. As with every Sunday game, kids are invited on the field to run the bases post-game.
