Good Earns First Triple-A Win as Tucson Sweeps Doubleheader

Andrew Good and Paul Abbott provided strong pitching as Tucson swept a double-header from Edmonton Saturday by scores of 4-1 and 7-0.

Good earned his first Triple-A winning throwing six solid innings in game one, allowing just two hits and one run. Good retired 13 straight Trappers at one juncture.

Good also broke up a 1-1 game with a fifth inning sacrifice fly scoring Tim Olson. Tucson would add another run in the fifth on an infield single by Danny Ramirez. Luis Terrero's RBI single in the sixth gave Tucson the final 4-1 margin.

Mike Koplove threw a hitless and scoreless seventh to earn a save in his rehab appearance with the Sidewinders.

Billy Martin started the scoring for Tucson in the second, hammering his ninth home run of the season, extending his hit streak to nine games.

In the nightcap Tucson scored single runs in the first and fifth innings against Trapper starter Ron Chiavacci.

Lyle Overbay pushed the lead to 5-0 with a towering three-run homer in the sixth. The Sidewinders would add two more runs in the five-run frame that put the game out of reach.

Abbott earned his third win of the year throwing a seven inning shutout, allowing only five hits while striking out seven. Abbott even added two singles on the night.

Tucson's record is 53-54. Tucson and Edmonton will play another doubleheader Sunday afternoon (12:35 p.m. Tucson time) at TELUS Field. Chris Capuano (6-2 3.43) and Brady Raggio (1-2 4.34) will start for the Sidewinders. The Trappers will counter with Seung Song (5-0 3.03) and Britt Reames (3-10 5.56)
