Gonzalez Homers, M-Braves Drop Series Finale to Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Mississippi Braves (44-46, 15-6) fell 15-1 to the Montgomery Biscuits (41-42, 13-8) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits jumped on the M-Braves right away, scoring five runs off five hits in the first inning. Montgomery put up three or more runs in three different innings. The Biscuits won back-to-back games to take the series, but the M-Braves still lead the South Division by two games.

Yariel Gonzalez blasted a solo home run in the fourth inning, his ninth of the season. Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

In his second rehab appearance for the M-Braves, RHP Kirby Yates tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts. Atlanta signed the 2019 All-Star as a free agent on November 29, 2021.

RHP AJ Puckett posted 1 1/3 innings of relief with three strikeouts. Puckett has 62 strikeouts to 18 walks in 45 1/3 innings this season.

Logan Brown put together a strong performance on both ends. The catcher caught a baserunner stealing and went 1-for-4 with a base hit.

The M-Braves start a six-game road series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Tuesday. Coverage is on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv. The club returns home for a six-game home series against Biloxi on August 2.
