Goldeyes Win Another Close Game

Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
The Winnipeg Goldeyes won another close one tonight, shading the Kansas City T-Bones 1-0 in front of 5,713 at Canwest Park to sweep all three games of the series and move into a tie with Gary for top spot in the Northern League. That sets up a first-place showdown with the RailCats when they roll in for three games beginning Friday.
Winnipeg opened and concluded the scoring on one pitch when Adam Frost led off the ninth by hammering a 1-1 offering from Dustin Bolton deep to left for his third home of the year. Bolton (3-3) ended up the hard-luck loser, allowing the one run on just three hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Andrew Cruse was equally solid for Winnipeg, tossing seven shutout innings with four walks and eight strikeouts, but it was Chris Homer (1-2) that got the win after retiring the one batter he faced in the top of the ninth.
This series concluded tonight. Winnipeg stays put to welcome Gary on Friday for the first of three games in a match-up of the league's top two teams. Ace Walker is up for us while Chris Jones replies for them in what should be a dandy. Game time is 7 p.m. and great seats starting at just $5 are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the ballpark box office, by calling 780-3333 or visiting ticketmaster.ca.
