Gold Medalist QB and 2-Time NCAA Champion Heading To Danville

DANVILLE, IL - 2011 U.S. National Gold Medal Quarterback Micah Brown and 2-Time NCAA D-II Champion Defensive Back Robert Carlisle have signed with the Dragons.

"Coming to Danville and having a chance to set a foundation and place footprint with a new organization is something I take seriously," stated Brown. "The off-season is time for each of us players to prepare ourselves to the maximum. Once we report for camp though, we prepare together as the Danville Dragons. This is a great honor."

Micah Brown (5'10", 182, QB, St. Mary's University) this past summer led the U.S. National Team to the Gold Medal at the World Championships of American Football. He was most recently involved with NFL's Buffalo Bills after his international performance. In 2009, Brown trained with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats and was then on the Toronto Argonauts practice squad. His collegiate career began after accepting a scholarship to Auburn University and then continued to Southwest Mississippi, West Virginia Tech, St. Paul's College and St. Mary's University, where he won the Loney Bowl. Brown also played professional indoor ball in 2007 for the Gulf Coast Raiders and has played internationally for the GFL's Wernigerode Mountain-Tigers, Basel MeanMachine (Switzerland) and Dartmouth Knights (Canada).

"I'm very honored to be a part of this great organization and team. I look forward to an exciting and challenging upcoming season," stated Carlisle. "I will bring what I know and can't wait to learn from these great coaches here in Danville."

Robert Carlisle (6', 197, DB, Grand Valley State University) garnered NFL interest from the Lions, Panthers and Texans. In his final season (2010/11), the Lakers finished 11-2 and he recorded 43 tackles, four interceptions, 16 pass deflections and a forced fumble. On September 11, he tallied a team-leading 12 tackles against Hillsdale. Carlisle finished his career at GVSU with 88 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 21 deflections, two forced fumbles and eight interceptions. Carlisle's position coach and head coach was current Notre Dame Fighting Irish Safeties Coach Chuck Martin. The Lakers and Carlisle won the NCAA D-II National Championship in both 2005 and 2006 along with conference titles six straight seasons from 2004-2010.
