Danville Dragons News Release
DANVILLE, IL - This morning, the Dragons announced the team has come to terms with University of Oregon Defensive Back Marvin Johnson. Johnson played in both the 2010 Rose Bowl where he made a key tackle on Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor and the 2011 BCS National Championship.
"I'm happy to be part of the Dragon family and I can't wait to perform," stated Johnson.
Marvin Johnson (5'10," 205, DB/FB/WR, Oregon) played in 49 games during his time with the Ducks from 2007-2010. Johnson entered his senior season as one of the team's strongest defensive backs with a 319-lb power clean lift and a 365-lb bench press. Those that watched the 2011 BCS National Championship may remember Johnson's run for a 1st down off a fake punt as the Ducks faced 4th & 7 from their own 43 in the 3rd Quarter. In 2009, he was honored with the Wilson Award for most outstanding special teams player. After moving into the nickel-back role following the loss of Walter Thurmond and Willie Glasper, Johnson made key contributions during PAC-12 games against California, Washington State, UCLA and USC. During his career, the Ducks also swept Washington in the "Border War" and won three straight Civil War games against Oregon State.
Season and single game tickets are now on sale for the 2012 home games. Ticket packages start at $42.00 for seven home games. Contact the David S. Palmer Arena at 217-431-2424 or ExtremeTix at 1-877-77CLICK (25425). The first home game will be on March 10.
