
Goalkeepers Evan Newton and Phillip Beigl Depart Locomotive Ahead of 2023 Season

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC announced today that Goalkeepers Evan Newton and Philipp Beigl will not be returning for the 2023 season. Beigl did not make any USL Championship regular season appearances in the Locomotive jersey.
Newton, on a one-year loan from MLS side Vancouver White Caps, has been recalled to his parent club. The 34-year-old goalkeeper played in all 34 matches this season, marking 3,060 minutes played between the posts. Newton recorded 95 saves on the season and eight clean sheets for Locomotive. He faced 147 shots and had a save success rate of 65 percent. Newton also saved one penalty this season in the final match of the 2022 regular season against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
El Paso Locomotive FC would like to thank Newton and Beigl for their time in El Paso and wish them both the best in their future. More roster announcements will be made as Locomotive gears up for their fifth season in the USL Championship.
