Goal scoring winger joins Royals in 2005-06

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that goal-scoring forward Kevin Saurette has agreed to terms on a contract for the Royals 5th Anniversary Season.

A 6-foot, 190-pound right winger, Saurette spent the last four seasons at the University of Manitoba in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Last year he turned in his best offensive season scoring 21 goals and 53 points with 66 penalty minutes in 40 games. Over four seasons with the Warriors, Saurette totaled 51 goals, 85 assists for 136 points and 251 penalty minutes in 138 games played. Prior to his university career, the 25 year old Winnipeg, Manitoba native spent two seasons in the Western Hockey League with Regina. Saurette appeared in 121 games with the Pats and scored 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points, while adding 68 minutes in penalties.

"Kevin is a very exciting player that we expect to fill one of our center positions," commented new coach Karl Taylor. "He had an exceptional season last year at the University of Manitoba and we expect him to carry that ability over to the pro level."

The Royals 5th Anniversary Season faces off October 29 against Kelly Cup Champion Trenton. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season champion banner prior to the drop of the puck.
