Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today announced the signing of forward Michel Massie for the upcoming season. The Condors also announced the hiring of Justin Fahsbender as Group Sales Manager.

Massie, 28, joins the Condors after spending the 2004-05 campaign in limited action with the Laval Chiefs of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH). Massie recorded nearly a point per game in 27 starts for Laval, producing a tally of 7 goals, 16 assists and 23 points with 42 penalty minutes. During his career, Massie has suited up in 362 regular season matchups for a total of 109 goals, 141 assists and 250 points.

The signing reunites Massie with recent acquisitions Sean Venedam and Kevin Kotyluk, who played together with the Fort Wayne Komets from 2002 to 2004. During that span, the Komets tallied a record of 97-38-0-17, and captured the United Hockey League championship in 2002-2003. Massie also won a championship in 1999-00 with the Phoenix Mustangs of the former WCHL alongside Condors forward Kevin St. Jacques and under current Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond.

"Familiarity is important at this level, and I know what Michel can do on the ice," said Raymond. "We won a title together in Phoenix, and I know his leadership and his heart. We knew it would be tough replacing Paul Rosebush's scoring ability, but we feel Michel has the talent to get the job done."

Massie's addition brings the Condors roster total to 13. The Condors roster currently includes two returning players (Mike Hofstrand and Kevin St. Jacques) and 11 newcomers (Massie, Scott Borders, Kevin Kotyluk, Reagan Lelie, Nate Metcalf, Andrew Oke, Anders Olsson, Justin Quenneville, Oscar Stenberg, and Sean Venedam).

The Condors also announced the hiring of Justin Fahsbender as Group Sales Manager. Fahsbender, 24, rejoins the organization after working as an intern with the Condors in 2002-03 and as a full-time account manager in 2003-04. "I'm very excited to be back with the organization," said Fahsbender, a graduate of Cal State Bakersfield where he majored in Sports Management. "I'm looking forward to another great season with the Condors."

Condor Droppings:The Condors will host a pre-season scrimmage against the Stockton Thunder on October 13th at the McMurtry Ice Center. The scrimmage will be closed to the public. The Condors will host the Fresno Falcons two nights later at the Rabobank Arena in their first full pre- season game.

The Bakersfield Condors season opens in 52 days at home on October 22nd against the Victoria Salmon Kings.
