Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, FL (May 24, 2006) - During their 15th Anniversary celebration, Miracle Baseball has asked fans to vote for their all-time favorite players at each position. Who would have thought that some of those players from years past would appear in Miracle jerseys in 2006? First it was pitcher Colby Miller (2003) and now it's outfielder Kevin West (2002). Who's next, Brad Radke? The Miracle also placed first baseman Johnny Woodard on the disabled list.

The 26-year-old West was a 16th round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 1999 and has been rehabbing over at extended spring. He began his Twins career by hitting a career high .314 at rookie level Elizabethton in 1999. He spent 2000-01 at Single-A Quad Cities before joining the Miracle in 2002. While with the Miracle he hit .275-12-64 in 129 games. He led the clubs in runs (62), total bases, home runs, RBI, walks (46) and slugging percentage and was second in hits (122) and on base percentage (.351).

He spent 2003 and parts of 2004 at Double-A New Britain before being called up to Triple-A Rochester in 2004 where he hit .278-4-22 in 20 games. Last season he hit .271-20-64 in 125 games at Triple-A Rochester. The 20 home runs ranked him third among all Twins Minor League players last season.

The 21-year-old Woodard is on the disabled list with a sprained knee. During the 2006 season he is hitting .181-2-8 in 23 games. In 72 at bats he has two doubles, six walks and 27 strike outs. Woodard was a third round pick of the Twins in 2003.

The Twins roster now stands at 24, one shy of the maximum of 25, 12 position players and 12 pitchers.
