Gladiators Team up with PAC as Future Safety Leader in Football

Albuquerque, NM - Even in the off-season, the Duke City Gladiators remain in tune with the community and are constantly looking to make positive strides and partnerships. In a proud announcement at the 2015 ABQid Accelerator Demo Day on Friday, August 28th at the Epicenter in downtown Albuquerque, CEO of Pressure Analysis Company Michelle Urban presented the company's partnership with the Gladiators as a future safety leader in football.

Pressure Analysis Company also known as PAC is a startup company based out of Albuquerque that has developed wireless impact sensors that are patent pending and backed by the University of New Mexico's STC UNM technology commercialization incubator. PAC's first product, SmackPAC Athlytics™, is a skullcap that is for athletes in contact sports. It shows where, how hard, and how many times an athlete is hit. Impacts will be viewed using a mobile application in real time and can be downloaded to an ImPACt Scorecard™ for long term tracking.

The goal of the partnership is to push for more efficient assessment of head contact and the PAC technology will be able to provide data that allows for the playing of contact sports under more objectively informed conditions.

PAC will be utilizing the skull caps in real time practice and game conditions with the Gladiators which will further their research and result in a better understanding of head contact and injuries. The data collected could lead to better helmet manufacturing, tackling techniques and other ways to increase safety while playing in contact sports extending from youth to professional leagues.

"The Gladiators will help us unlock the value of our data which will benefit the team, our company, and football as a sport," said PAC CEO Michelle Urban. "We've been working throughout the offseason, also, to manufacture our sensors and the SmackPAC Athlytics™ package so it will be just as ready on game day as the Gladiators."

The partnership between Pressure Analysis Company and the Duke City Gladiators is one of the many ways the Gladiator organization pursues local economic growth through the partnerships of startups at the ground level.
