
Gladiators Lose to Barnstormers on NFL Network, 70-62

DES MOINES - The Cleveland Gladiators couldn't keep up with the Iowa Barnstormers' aerial attack in a 70-62 loss at the Wells Fargo Arena on NFL Network on Friday night. The loss is Cleveland's second-straight and drops them to 6-5 on the season, while Iowa Improves their mark to 5-7.
The Gladiators were paced by John Dutton's 370 yards through the air with seven touchdowns and an interception. A trio of Cleveland receivers eclipsed the 100-yard plateau, led by Carlese Franklin's 12 grabs for 127 yards and two scores. Dominick Goodman nabbed 12 passes for 114 yards and two scores, giving him 25 receiving touchdowns this season. Robert Redd caught eight balls for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
J.J. Raterink was nearly perfect for Iowa as he completed 31-of-37 passes for 371 yards and nine scores. As it's been all year, Jessie Schmidt was Raterink's main target catching 18 balls for 206 yards and five touchdowns. Marco Thomas hauled in six grabs for 103 yards and three scores. Iowa came into tonight as the worst team in the league at giving up sacks, surrendering 175 in 11 games. Tonight they allowed just one sack.
Cleveland was second in the AFL with a +13 turnover ratio coming into tonight, but ended up -1 in that category. Joe Phinisee tallied ten total tackles with eight solo and two assists. Tim Cheatwood and Jarrett Crittenton shared the Gladiators' lone sack. Cameron McGlenn had 18 stops, 11 solo and seven assists, and an interception for Iowa.
The Gladiators are back in the national spotlight as they host the East rival Pittsburgh Power on NFL Network this Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena. Kickoff is set for 8 pm ET. Check your local listings for the NFL Network in your area.
