New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS (June 1, 2012) - Everyone knows how stressful planning a wedding can be. But, imagine if you had to plan a wedding during a football season.

If you ask New Orleans VooDoo player Marlon Favorite, he will be the one to tell you about planning for a wedding, especially when it's during the weekend of a game. Not the easiest task by any means, but Marlon managed to pull it off.

Marlon married Tanisha Banks on Sunday, May 27, 2012 - the day following the VooDoo's home game versus the Arizona Rattlers - at the Four Columns in Marrero. The wedding was originally planned for Saturday, May 26, but was rescheduled because of the Saturday game.

Marlon and Tanisha met back in May of 2006, and they were both out in New Orleans when they first laid eyes on each other.

"I was leaving and she was leaving, so being myself, I stopped and introduced myself," Marlon said. "We happened to cross paths at the right time. We went on a few dates, got a little serious, and we've been together ever since."

As for Marlon, planning a wedding and focusing on a football game was a little different than focusing just on a pregame warm up.

"It was weird having a game the night before, but it all worked out," Marlon said, while laughing. "It was a tough game that night and one we all wanted to win, but it was beautiful to wake up and spend time with our family and friends the next day."

Marlon and his family were able to have some down time on Memorial Day in the city and hang out at the hotel. But, as far as hanging out on the honeymoon, it will have to wait for both Marlon and Tanisha.

"Our family's focus now is the rest of the season and making it to the ArenaBowl," Marlon said. "Plus, little Marlon just made eight months, and Tanisha isn't comfortable leaving him yet."

Once the season is over, Marlon and Tanisha will be able to celebrate their marriage with just them two.

Without further ado, introducing Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Favorite to the VooDoo nation! Join us in congratulating the newlyweds.

The VooDoo travel this week to the Georgia Force (6-5) for an important South Division game, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT. The game will appear live on Cox 4 and also on "Rush Radio" 99.5 FM.
