Duke City Gladiators News Release

Albuquerque, NM "" It's obvious the Duke City Gladiators are on a mission. In a third and final regular season bout versus the San Angelo Bandits, the Gladiators made a statement in league and that is they are here to play. On a very thoughtful Memorial Day in San Angelo, Texas, the Gladiators played a strong and commanding game. The Bandits scored first early in the 1st quarter but Duke City's Jayson Serda answered right back with a 52-yard kickoff return touchdown. Possessions for both teams were back and forth without any change in the score. Then in the 2nd quarter, the Gladiators started a momentum that couldn't be stopped. A huge play made by Jayson Serda on a missed San Angelo field goal was just a piece of the winning puzzle as he returned it for a 50-yard touchdown. QB Kasey Peters connected with receivers Roland Bruno and James Cleveland on multiple occasions for touchdowns. Peters finished 17-33, 166 yards, and 4 touchdown passes. Cleveland and Bruno both finished with two TD's a piece and Serda had quite the game with 6 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 touchdowns. The Duke City Gladiators dominated the matchup with a final score of 47-10. The Gladiators are now 6-3 overall and 4-3 in league play.

The last regular season away game is set to take place in Allen, Texas where they will face the Texas Revolution in a rematch. Duke City faced the Revolution in their first game in the inaugural season. The Revolution are currently 7-4 in the Champions Indoor Football League and the Gladiators look to make a move to that will further ensure a playoff spot. Friday night's game will be Texas' last regular season game. When it comes to the win last night and the upcoming game Head Coach Dominic Bramante says, "We can enjoy the win versus San Angelo for the moment, but our focus needs to be on Friday night and getting ready for that crucial game." With a Revolution loss, Texas would more than likely be out of playoff contention. On Friday May 29th, Duke City will travel to Allen to face the Revolution at the Allen Event Center where the kick-off is set for 6:05 PM Mountain Time. Gladiator fans can see all the action online or join the viewing party at Altitudes Sports Grill inside Hotel Cascada.
